Education in your corner: October 26, 2015

Good Afternoon!

I do want to say this, to me it seems as if states are shying away from Common Core. It seems as if they want to make children feel smarter as they not holding them to high standards. I don't mean having ridiculously high standards, but hold them to standards that is attainable.

Granted, when I was a kid (and it wasn't that long ago) we dealt with FCAT year after year. Do I think that really helped us be who we are? Well, no. Then again, you are talking to a girl who sucked at the test. Should that tell your teachers, parents, and community about how smart you are or how dumb you are? No. Just because someone is better at testing than others should not dictate anything.

Enough off of that. Here is the latest education news.

Nicky Morgan approves the first Grammar School in England. This is the first Grammar School in the last 50 years.

Northeastern University is offering siblings and parents 25 percent off tuition costs for their graduate programs.

There you have it guys, the education news for October 26, 2015. Stay tuned tomorrow for another Education in your corner.
